HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-02-23 Special MinutesFebruary 23, 1961 A Special meeting of the Tukwila Town Council Was cal., at 8 :00 P.M. by Stan Minkler, Council President, who, in the absence of Mayor Charles d:. faker, presided. Councilmen present, in addition to Mr. Minkler, were A. G. Radford, E. W. Ives and J. A. Aamilton. Mr. A. P. Burzenski, Project Engineer for Andover Corporation, was glso present to talk over, with the Council, Development plans and proposals. The Council discussed with Mr. Burzenski complaints on the condition of relocated 57th Avenue So. Mr. Radford moved the Council request the Developers immediately repair So. 162nd Street, from 54th So. to 57th So. and the relocated portion of 57th So. and maintain these roads continuously for two lane traffic, to the satisfaction of Mr. Frank Zepp, Tukwila Street Supt., seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. Minkler and Mr. burzinski discussed a complaint of a property owner regarding water backing up on a certain piece of land. Mr. Minkler pointed out the fact that this problem is between the owner of the property and the Developers. Mr. Minkler reported on the condition of that portion of 53rd Ave. So. which is falling away. he stated it must be repaired immediately since it is a hazard to travel on the road. This street is on the main route of the school bus and a main arterial for several hundred property owners who live south of this area. Mr. Minkler stated that this road must be kept open at all costa. He further stated that if this road should become totally impassable fire and police equipment would be subjected to a detour of several miles if called into the area beyond this section of road in question. Mr. Minkler reported numerous complaints from surrounding property owners whose land is sinking also. The Council talked at length with Mr. Burzenski who agreed to do everything within his power to see that the problems discussed would be resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned. Mr. Burzenski, by the use of a map, showed the Council a proposal to close and eliminate the present Christianson Road and replace it with a better road through the Andover Industrial Park. After careful consideration it was decided this plan would require further study, and no action was taken. By motion meeting adjourned at 9:35 P.M. aniey D. 'Iinkler, Acting Mayor Lois T.
