AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AND AMENDING SECTION 1102
OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE AS ADOPTED BY
ORDINANCE CE 't40. 678 AND SECTION 16.04.010 OF THE
TUEWILA MUNICIPAL CODE..

AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AND AMENDING SECTION 1102
OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE AS ADOPTED BY
ORDINANCE NO. 678 AND SECTION 16.04.010 OF THE
TUKWILA MUNICIPAL CODE.
WHEREAS, The City of Tukwila has adopted by reference the
Uniform Building Code by Ordinance No. 678, as set forth in
Section 16.04.010 of the Tukwila Municipal Code, and
WHEREAS, It is desirable that Section 1102 of the Uniform
Building Code be amended and the public health, safety, necessity
and convenience so demand and the City Council so finds, now,
therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL Of the City of Tukwila, Washington, do
ordain as follows:
That Section 1102 of the Uniform Building Code, as adopted
by Ordinance No. 678, be repealed and that there be added thereto
and designated as hereinafter indicated, the following:
Sec. 1102. (a) GENERAL. Buildings or parts of buildings
classed in Group F because of the use or character of the occupancy
shall be limited to the types of construction set forth in Tables
No. 5 -C and No. 5 -D and shall not exceed, in area or height, the
limits specified in Sections 505, 506 and 507.
Other provisions of this Code notwithstanding, a Group F,
Division 1 Occupancy located in the basement or first story of a
building housing a Group F, Division 2 or a Group H Occupancy may
be classed as a separate and distinct building for the purpose of
area limitation, limitation of number of stones and Type of
Construction, when all of the following conditions are met:
1. The Group F, Division 1 Occupancy is of Type I
Construction;
2. There is a Three -Hour Occupancy Separation between
the Group F Division 1 Occupancy and all portions
of the Group F, Division 2 or Group H Occupancy.
3. The Group F, Division 1 Occupancy is devoted to
the storage of passenger vehicles (having a capacity
of not more than nine persons per vehicle), but may
contain laundry rooms and mechanical equipment rooms
incidental to the operation of the building.
4. The maximum building height in feet shall not
exceed the limits set forth in Table No. 5 -D for
the least type of construction involved.

(b) SPECIAL PROVISIONS. Motor vehicle service stations
including canopies and supports over pumps shall be noncombust-
ible or of one -hour fire resistive construction.
EXCEPTION: Roofs of one -story service stations
may be of heavy timber construction.
In areas where motor vehicles or airplanes are stored,
and in gasoline service stations, floor surfaces shall be of
noncombustible materials.
EXCEPTION: Floors may be surfaced or water-
proofed with asphaltic paving materials in areas
where motor vehicles or airplanes are stored or
operated.
Storage areas in excess of 1000 square feet in connection
with wholesale or retail sales, shall be separated from the public
areas by a One -Hour Fire Resistive Occupancy Separation as defined
in Chapter 5. Such areas may be increased to 3000 square feet
when sprinklers, not otherwise required, are installed in the
storage area.
