HomeMy WebLinkAbout1911-05-09 Regular MinutesTukwila May 9, 1911 The Regular Meeting of the Town council was held at Lutz Hall on the above date. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 8:00 PM. Present: E.W. Engel Mayor John O. Wold M.H. Miller Frank E. Kline Councilmembers The minutes from the previous meeting was read by the Clerk and found correct, after this continue business was as follows: Report of Committees Mr. Wold reported on Bluff Street. He stated that the work had been finished except on the Reidlinger Road. mr. McIntyre who had charge of the work had work yet arrived. The work on Outlet Avenue was done satisfactory. Mr. Kline reported that the work on Main Street was well underway, but more should be done, and it was up to the council to add some more appropriation for that street. This hwoever will come under New Business. Bills and Correspondence The following Bills was presented for payment: B.A. McIntyre for work on Bluff Street $127.25 Mr. Viely of Orilla's for same $43.00 Mr. Leavis for same $25.25 Mr. Terry same $11.25 Total on Bluff Street $206.75 The $4.00 of that amount goes on Main Street for Main Street Mr. Leavis for work on Main Street $12.00 Fred Coluccio for same $12.75 J.W. same $13.75 D. same $15.00 Meyers same $28.50 Total on main Street to date $82.50 Outlet Avenue John to work on Outlet $14.75 D.W. same $10.25 Myers same $28.25 Total on Outlet Avenue $48.25 further Bills presented were: Clerk salary for April $5.00 Hall Rent for April $2.00 M. $1.00 total amount presented for payment at this meeting $345.50 These Bills were submitted by Finance Committee and referred to the Clerk for issuance of warrants in their payment. A correspondence from Puget Sound Electric Company was read relating to their in opening up railroad corssing so ordered by the Council. A petition from Mr. Leavis was read before the Council. The petition was upon at that A petition from citizens requesting the Council Mr. Gunthert for Mr. Northrup's expired came Mr. Miller moved that Mr. Gunthert be . The motion was carried Mr. Gunthert took his seat in council; The Clerk being instructed to read the Oath of Office for the Councilmember and apply his signature. Unfinished Business The matter of the Interurban in opening up crossings was referred to the Street Committee for further action. The election of Councilmember has already been referred to. Jacob Gunthert after taking his seat asked the council to move on. Mr. Leavis reported for higher pay for Town labor. The speaking on the subject was in favor of the raise. Mr. Gunthert refining to the high cost of living wanted the petition granted. After some dicussion the petition was Committee to report on later. Mr. Kline wanted more work done on Main Street. $25.00 to finsiht he job. Mr. Miller New Business Mr. Kline brought up about a Outlet Avenue Mr. Wold said that was just what we are working on now. The soon opening up of the street Bluff Street with Main Street. Mr. Miller requested the Council to do some work on also for Mr. Gunthert brought up the carfare again. He motion for a for them to and report and Mr. Wold asked the Council to furnish tools for Town work. A discussion followed. The question was what kind and how many tools to buy. Mr. Kline finally made a motion to buy tools. The motion was carried. mr. Wold getting the purchasing job. The ordinance for renaming Hillman Boulevard to Tukwila Avenue passed its Ordinance 26 Mr. McIntyre requested the Council to give him an outlet from his place. The council replayed right-of-way could be legally secured. that work would begin. As the discussion over that subject because somewhat lengthy an adjournment was taken after 10:00 PM. C.P.
