In addition to other design require- ments of this chapter, heliport and helistop landing or touchdown areas shall be de- signed for the maximum stress induced by the following: 1. Attached is a windload chart and copy of pertinent UBC requirements. The chart indicates deflection rates of glazed panels with maximum allowable deflection of 1.0" in plane of span: The rate of 5PSF is the given load for panels subject to human impact. Our span is 120" and based on PSF our deflection will be .80 inches. We have completed numerous installations similar to this around the Puget Sound area The channel depth at the sill of one inch and the channel depth at the head of 1 1/2" provide the required edge bite to allow the glass to maintain proper structural support to meet the pre - described reflection of 1/120 as listed in UBC. To insure that maximum edge bite was achieved, we individually measured and fabricated each lite of glass to follow the difference in framing height. In addition to those measures, we increased the depth of head channel to 1 1/2 ". The architectural drawings detailed 6/D- 1 show 'I" depth.
