The existing impervious area is approximately 0.54 acres. The existing pervious area is approximately 0.24 acres. The existing vegetation consists of a maintained grass area with a few interspersed bushes. The existing drainage pattern consists of a combination of catch basins, underground pipes, and overland sheet flow. Stormwater runoff from the existing parking lot is collected in two catch basins which discharge into the existing storm drainage system, located in 48 Avenue S. Stormwater runoff from the grass area sheet flows to 48` Avenue and is collected in the existing storm drainage system. Proposed Site The proposed impervious area will be approximately 0.65 acres. The proposed pervious area will be approximately 0.13 acres. The new impervious area is 0.11 acres, or approximately 4,809 square feet. The developed site will not alter the existing drainage pattern and will increase the flow of stormwater runoff introduced to the public storm drain system by less than 0.5 cfs. The existing storm drainage system for the parking lot will be preserved. Stormwater runoff from the majority of the proposed fueling area driveways will sheet flow from the paved area, across a grass filter strip, and into to a conveyance swale. The conveyance swale will be sized to convey the 100 -year (24 hour) storm event and will outfall into a catch basin which then discharges to the existing storm drainage system. Stormwater runoff from the proposed covered fueling area will be collected in a catch basin, pass through a oil /water separator, and be discharged into the existing sanitary sewer system, located in 48 ° t Avenue S. Roof downspouts, from the proposed canopy, will discharge to the proposed storm drainage system. Detention will not be provided as part of this project. Soils Soils information was determined using the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Survey of the King County Area. The project area soils appear to be a combination of Puget silty clay loam, with slopes ranging from 0 -1 %, and Puyallup fine sandy loam, with slopes ranging from 0 -2 %. 5 .^ S v R 100! Tec :ical Information Report SvR #98026 On-site Conveyance The proposed storm drainage system will maintain existing drainage patterns. The parking lot stormwater runoff will be collected and routed through the proposed storm drainage system. Conveyance calculations show that the proposed storm drainage facilities are adequate in size, and will have less than 0.5 cfs increase in the flow of stormwater runoff from the site. Off-site Conveyance The proposed storm drainage system will connect to the existing storm drainage system and should not result in downstream stormwater runoff problems. Water Quality Facilities Water quality will be provided by grass filter strips, a grass lined conveyance swale, an oil/water separator, and downturned elbows in storm drain structures. The filter strips were sized per the King County Surface Water Design Manual, and will be the required 15 ft length. These facilities will remove debris and contaminants as well as prevent any eroded materials from being transported downstream. Subsurface Site Investigation On September 12, 1995, three (3) soil borings were drilled in the vicinity of the UST system by Associated Drilling of' Seattle, Washington, using a hollow-stein auger drill rig. Samples were collected using a standard split spoon, driven by a 140 pound drop hammer. Soil samples were collected from each soil boring at depths of 5, 10, 15, and 20 feet BGS. Soil samples were placed directly into laboratory- prepared borosilicate glass jars sealed with Teflon lids. All samples were uniquely labeled and stored in a chilled cooler for transport to the analytical laboratory. Water samples were collected through the drill rig's hollow stem using plastic disposable bailers. Omega's sampling protocol and decontamination procedures are presented in Appendix A. 3.1 SUBSURFACE i IYDRO- GEOLOGICAL DESCRIPTION Based on soil sample descriptions, Figure 3 shows a generalized cross - section between the three boreholes. The first 5 feet of soil consisted of a medium brown to gray, damp to moist, silty clay. Between 10 and 15 feet BGS, the soil generally consisted of a stratified (layered) sequence of medium brown silty clay and dark brown to black, poorly graded silt and sand. The silt and sand layers ranged from semi - saturated to saturated. By 20 feet BGS, a black, poorly to moderate graded, fine to medium saturated sand with occasional gravel, was encountered in all three soil borings. The stratified sequence of semi- saturated to saturated silt, fine sand, and clay suggested that perched water may exist in discontinuous or continuous zones above the saturated black sand. Depth to water measured in soil boring SB3, was approximately 15 feet BGS. The depth to the static water table(s) and direction of groundwater flow beneath the subject property is not known. However, documents describing properties in the vicinity of the subject property indicate that the direction of groundwater flow is north to northeast (Husky ldealease Phase I Report, prepared by Omega, Project Number 2615 -029). 3.2 FIELD SCREENING AND SAMPLE COLLECTION Soil samples collected during the subsurface investigation were screened in the field for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), commonly associated with petroleum hydrocarbons, using a Iviwi Rae photo- ionization detector (I'ID) with a 10.2 eV lamp, and by performing a sheen test in water. A total of twelve (12) soil samples were collected, four (4) from each soil boring (Figure 2). The PI D readings for all soil samples were 0.0 parts per million (ppm). Sheen tests conducted on drill cuttings from the first 5 feet of soil in all three boreholes showed trace to light sheens. Soil samples taken from 5 and 10 feet BGS in soil borehole SF31 also had a trace to light sheen. pECIVED CITY OP TUKWILA 3 3 S ~ 8 1 998 PERMIT CENTER Husky Idt3a1aasu Phase II LI fled Subsurface Soil Invesll!ation a Husky Idealease Generalized Sub-Surface Cross - Section SB3 Depth (Ii) 5 10 15 20 Key Not to Scale SB1 Medium brown to dark gray, moist, silty. clay Dark brown to black, poorly graded, semi- saturated to statuated fine sand Dark brown to black, poorly graded, semi - saturated to saturated silt Site Address: 13123 48th Avenue South, Seattle, WA S132 Dark brown to black, moderately graded, saturated, medium sand, with occatiNIt1NED LA gravel. ort•Y 0p TUIc JUN - 3 PERMIT C Omega Services, Inc. FastFrame transforms LOTUS 1 -2 -3 into a full featured structural analysis, design, and graphics system. Full AISC code checking & selection from a 2,700 member database, structure plotting, and member analysis & graphics is provided. FastFrame models rigid frames, braced frames, trusses, and any type of two - dimensional structure. Nodes and Beams are used to define the frame's geometry and member connections. Nodes and Beams also have "restraint" and "release" codes which set how the X, Y, and Z (rotation) degrees of freedom are used. Also, "S" or "D" node restraints specify spring supports and forced displacements. Loads are applied to the frame by using the Node Load, Beam Point Load, and Beam Distributed Load areas. You can apply virtually any type of load, moment, or thermal gradient to the frame. Also, "direction" codes can modify the alignment of a load. Each member has a "property" list which specifies the area, inertia, and other values, including AISC check values. FastFrame let's you "Tag" members (i.e. a W21x55 can be tagged "BM1 "). You can then either assign the tag or actual section label (W21x55) to a member. Load Factors and Load Combinations are used to combine types of loads as required by building codes. The "factor" capability enables FastFrame to assign a single multiplier to each load in a case -or- each combination at run -time. Gravity loads from frame members can also be automatically generated. Output is supplied for node displacements, reactions, beam end shear, axial & moment loads, and AISC unity checks. Full color structure & detailed plots for AISC stress checks are also provided. Comment No. 1 Response: The values shown In the comment were used for the lateral bearing of the foundation footings as interpreted from the Information presented In URIC Table 18 -1 -A for the class of materials shown In group 3. From footnote 3 of that table the maximum value that can be used tor the lateral support Is twice the 200 psf/ft shown In the table or 400 psflft. This may be increased up to 10 limos as the depth Morasses to a maximum at the bottom of the footing of 6000 psf. For my design I used 250 pef/ft and • maximum of 3760 pot as the absolute maximum which are both more . conservative than the UBC allows. Comment No. 2 Response: For this particular structure and for the minimal amount of welding required, most of which It not . all will be shop welded, the use of AMR certified welders to more than adequate and does not have to have the WABO certification. tfully, 07/ 1Z1/1.993 13:2.1 00923321SO le M. The original celcuietione calculate the moments in the panels. The maximum positive moment stress Is 1200/.3533 = 3397 psi end the maximum negative moment eines le 2400/.2357 10182 psi. Both of these values ere less than the allowable of .6(40000) le 24000 psi. Comment No. 4 Response: Both wind and seismic ere considered In the design for the structures. Experience has shown that for the light structures, wind design always controls.
