The report of the Water Dept. was read and placed on file.
Mr. Long reported one building permit issued in March.
Mr. Drew reported on school activities and problems.
Mr. Parker reported on radar equipment in use on the police car
and recommended the town purchase same. Mr. Minkler stated the
Police Commission approved the purchase. Mr. Doyle moved the town
purchase the radar equipment under contract, Mr. Radford seconded
the motion and it was carried.
Mr. Parker reported Mr. Swanson was no longer working as Police
Officer and he had hired Mr. Hancuff in his place. Mayor Baker
with the approval of the Council appointed Mr. Hancuff as Police
Officer for a period of 90 days probation.
Mr. Minkler spoke of the need of tree registration of bicycles.
There was a discussion regarding blasting at the Quarry site on
Interurban Ave. So. on property belonging to Bill Wiese. A Mr.
Hardy had set off several blasts in a hazardous manner without
obtaing a permit to do so, and without the knowledge of town
officials. It was reported that loose rock is now a hazard to
anyone entering the property. Nearby residents present expressed
opposition to the blasting. Mr. hardy is now requesting permission
to operate a Quarry. Mayor asked an inspection of the Quarry site
be made and a report be returned on April 10th.
Mr. Hamilton moved Mr. Hardy be instructed to cease operation
and the request to operate a Quarry be tabled until April 10, 1961,
seconded by Mr. Doyle and carried.
Meeting recessed at 9 :50 to meet on April 10 at 8 :00 P.M.
