General: The following requirements for additional information occurs due to the fact that the plans have been design for the requirements of Seismic zone 1, in the State of Nebraska. Various clarifications and additional information are required to be shown on plans for compliance with the 1997 Uniform Building Code and Seismic zone 3, as follows: 2. Provide an addition to the general notes that specifies that the 1997 Uniform Building Code supercedes all requirements listed in the General Notes and Design Criteria. 3. There are three levels to this dwelling. The first level (or basement) will be partially exposed due to the existing contours of the site. If the distance from finish grade to the top of the floor directly above the basement is more than 6 -feet for more than 50% of the building perimeter, Or it is more than 12 -feet at any point from the floor above the basement to finish grade, then the basement level is defined by code as the first story of this building. This in turn makes the top floor in this dwelling the third story and thus this story will have to be provided with two means of egress from this floor. Show compliance with the code requirement for a second exit from the third floor or clearly show on the plans that the finish grades around the building and within five feet of the building will be maintained at less than 6 -feet below the floor above the basement for at lease 50% of the building perimeter. 4. Show compliance (on the plans) with the prescriptive bracing requirements of the Uniform Building Code for conventional light frame construction or provide a design by an architect or engineer for the lateral force resisting systems of this building. 5.
