Tenant Improvement Cascade Building "A" Glacier Cascade Business Center Tukwila, Washington Dear Joe, Pursuant to our phone conversation on Thursday July 15, 1999, it is my understanding that the wall detailed in section D -1.0 on sheet S -1.0 was constructed with the double top plate directly under the floor sheathing, eliminating the TJI rim joist. This condition is acceptable structurally. Also, it is my understanding that the wall at the rear of the stairwell was constructed with steel studs above the landing. This wall was not considered as part of the shear wall along that edge of the mezzanine in my design, therefor, no tie straps are required between this wall and the wood stud shear wall to the south, However it is my understanding that the plywood sheathing is continuous over the two sections of wall. This is acceptable structurally. Please review this and contact me if you have any questions regarding this matter. Sincerely, Joseph J. Shutter, P.E.
