The recessed meeting of the Tukwila Town Council was called to order
by the Mayor, Charles O. baker, at 8 :00 P.M. Councilmen present were
Stan Minkler, A.G. Radford, E.W. Ives, R.K. Doyle and Jerry namilton.
Mayor Baker read a letter from the Department of Commerce and Economic
Development regarding the appointment of a committee on annexation,
to conform with a law taking effect in June, 1961. There was some
discussion of the attitude of the town regarding annexations.
The Clerk presented a Resolution commending Representative Avery
Garrett for his aid in the defeat of Senate Bill 234. Mr. Minkler
moved Resolution 135 be adopted, second by Mr. Doyle and carried.
Mr. Minkler moved the Clerk draw up a hesolution, commending
Mayor Baker's employer for his generous interest in Tukwila and in
Mayor Baker's office in the town, seconded by Mr. Radford and carried.
Mr. Ives moved Ordinance 325, amending Section 7 of Water
Ordinance 264, be palced on its first reading, seconded by Mr.
Hamilton and carried. Mr. Hamilton moved Ordinance No. 325 be placed
on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mr. Hamilton
moved Ordinance 325 be placed on its third reading and final
passage, seconded by. Mr. iviinkler and carried.
Mr. Doyle moved Ordinance 326, amending Section 24 and Section
25 of Ordinance 264, be placed on its first reading, seconded by
Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. Doyle moved Ordinance No. 326 be placed
on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr.
Hamilton moved Ordinance 326 be placed on its third reading and
final passage, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried.
Mr. Doyle moved Ordinance 327, amending 6ection 5 of Ordinance
. 223, relating to heating equipment, be placed on its first reading,
seconded by iir. Ives and carried. Mr. Hamilton moved Ordinance No. 327
be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried.
Mr. Radford moved Ordinance 327 be placed on its third reading and
final passage, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried.
The Council discussed the advisability of providing for payment
from the Current Expense Fund into the Water Find for water usedi in
fighting fires. Mr. Minkler moved a Ordinance be drawn up fpr Hydrant
Standby, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried.
Mayor Baker advised the Council of an undedicated road eaat.l of
Interurban Ave. S. shown as part of a piece of property recently
purchased. Mr. Zepp was asked to contact our attorney regarding it.
Mayor Baker reported on Senate Bill No. 4 providing that cities
ana towns will receive an additional one -half cent of the vehicle
fuel tax, apportioned monthly. The act provides funds must be matched
25% from other town funds and 75% from the One -half additional tax.
These funds to be used exclusively for the construction, improvement
and repair of arterial highways.
Mr. hamilton moved the Clerk set up such a fund, seconded by Mr.
Minkler and carried.
ivMr. Zepp announced his desire to attend the Sewage Treatment Operator!,
Short School to be held in Pullman on June 5, 6 and 7. Mr. Doyle moved
ir. Zepp be authorized to attend, secondea by fair. Hamilton and carried.
