Section 1 The above recitals are found to be true and <br />correct <br />Section 2 The City of Tukwila hereby establishes intent to <br />realign and simplify its common boundary with the City of Renton <br />according to the reciprocal annexation method set forth in RCW <br />35 10 217 <br />Section 3 The City of Tukwila is willing to and intends to <br />annex certain areas currently located in the City of Renton and <br />described as follows, to -wit <br />See Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof <br />as if fully set forth <br />upon the ceding of such territory to the City of Tukwila by <br />the City of Renton <br />Section 4 The City of Tukwila formally requests that the <br />City of Renton annex certain areas currently within the limits of <br />the City of Tukwila and described as follows, to wit <br />See Exhibit "B" attached hereto and made a part hereof <br />as if fully set forth <br />upon the ceding of such territory to the City of Renton by <br />the City of Tukwila <br />Section 5 The City of Tukwila recognizes that there are <br />certain issues of concern to both the City of Renton and the City <br />of Tukwila that must be mutually resolved The City of Tukwila <br />intends to pursue the resolution of these issues by entering into <br />an agreement with the City of Renton containing the following <br />terms and conditions <br />1 Strander Boulevard /S W 27th Street Improvements <br />Local costs of the future crossing of the railroad tracks by <br />Strander Boulevard /S W 27th Street should be shared equitably <br />between the two parties In pursuit of this Agreement, both <br />Cities agree to designate the aforementioned improvement of <br />Strander Boulevard /S W 27th Street as a high priority item on <br />each City's Transportation Improvement Plan, and each provide <br />one -half of the local funds needed to match an 80% federal funding <br />for this road improvement project <br />Because the timing of this street extension is uncertain, <br />Renton and Tukwila agree to monitor development and, as <br />development warrants, to acknowledge that the route is needed and <br />that both jurisdictions will cooperate to insure that an <br />appropriate connection is designed and constructed Because the <br />crossing will be located entirely within Tukwila upon completion <br />of the annexation, the final decision as to the time for <br />improvement shall be left to the discretion of Tukwila If <br />federal funding is unavailable, then Renton and Tukwila will <br />negotiate an equitable funding option as necessary, such that each <br />City's share of the local costs of the improvement shall be 50% <br />
