CITY OF TUKWILA <br />WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1008 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, <br />ESTABLISHING INTENT TO ANNEX CERTAIN AREAS FROM THE CITY <br />OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, REQUESTING THE CITY OF RENTON TO <br />ANNEX CERTAIN AREAS CURRENTLY WITHIN THE CORPORATE <br />LIMITS OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, SPECIFYING TERMS AND <br />CONDITIONS OF SUCH ANNEXATIONS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND <br />CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH RENTON ACCORDING <br />TO SUCH TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND REPEALING RESOLUTION <br />NO 1002 OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />WHEREAS, the current location of the common corporate <br />boundary between the City of Renton and the City of Tukwila is <br />irregular and does not follow an easily identified natural <br />feature, and <br />WHEREAS, the current boundary is difficult for residents, <br />businesses, and public officials to recognize and use, and <br />WHEREAS, the current irregular boundary limits the ability of <br />c,ne respective jurisdictions to plan for future land use and <br />logical service areas, and <br />WHEREAS, realigning and simplifying the common boundary would <br />be in the mutual interest of Renton and Tukwila, and <br />WHEREAS, a realigned boundary would provide more logical <br />service areas, including emergency service response areas, and <br />WHEREAS, a realigned boundary would clarify land use planning <br />responsibilities and provide more logical mailing addresses, and <br />WHEREAS, staff members of the respective Cities have explored <br />the potential areas of fiscal and administrative concern in <br />detail, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Renton, acting as lead agency for <br />purposes of SEPA, a Determination of Non Significance for a <br />proposed realignment of boundaries between the two Cities to be <br />accomplished by reciprocal annexations pursuant to RCW 35 10 217, <br />now, therefore, <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON HEREBY <br />RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS <br />
