The City will also provide timely, telephone follow -up to all businesses <br />receiving technical assistance. <br />The City will hire a consultant team to serve as Business Recycling and Waste Prevention <br />Specialists who will provide the following to local businesses. <br />a. On -Call Assistance In the past, the City has received several telephone requests for <br />assistance each month. The City expects more requests in the future since the City has <br />placed an advertisement in the Yellow Pages. <br />b. Citv Initiated Assistance The City plans to target assistance to sectors which include <br />(but are not necessarily limited to) property managers of the largest waste generators <br />to offer City initiated assistance in recycling, waste prevention and the procurement of <br />recycled- content products. The City may also focus on assistance for specific <br />"problem" materials, such as plastics. <br />c. Technical Assistance Workshops The City will hold technical assistance workshops <br />or other special events, as circumstances indicate, to recognize businesses with <br />outstanding business recycling/waste prevention programs; and/or the City may <br />provide information to targeted industries about selected materials or the overall <br />benefits of recycling, waste prevention and the procurement of recycled- content <br />products. <br />Proiect Goals: <br />increase the visibility of the Tukwila Business Recycles program in the community; <br />increase awareness among businesses of the technical assistance offered by the City; <br />and <br />expand the number of businesses which receive technical assistance as a result of <br />increased promotion of the City's technical assistance program. The City hopes to <br />provide on -call assistance to 10 businesses and City initiated assistance to 40 <br />businesses. <br />Deliverable: <br />Technical assistance to a minimum of 50 businesses <br />Proiect Evaluation: <br />In coordination with the City's evaluation of its business program under the King County <br />City Optional Program, the City will evaluate this project by undertaking the following: <br />tracking the number of firms assisted by the Tukwila Business Recycles program; <br />tracking the number of Green Works members (new, "Distinguished or "Partners <br />assisted; <br />tracking the number (and source) of calls for assistance; and <br />surveying garbage and recycling haulers to gain information about changes in diversion <br />rates for the business sector over a 9 month period. <br />3 <br />
