Attached are <br />the documents that impact your organization as a receiving jurisdiction under the FFY02 <br />Equipment Grant. The Washington State Military Department was designated the State <br />Administrative Agency for this grant program and worked closely with all counties emergency <br />management agencies to effectively make use of this resource through the assessment <br />process. The purpose of the grant funding is to purchase equipment, in accordance with <br />existing strategic plans, to ensure that the nation's state and local emergency responders have <br />the equipment required to properly respond to terrorist incidents involving weapons of mass <br />destruction (WMD). Realistically, successful response to a terrorist attack will require mutual <br />aid resources from all WMD equipment recipient agencies in King County. This equipment is <br />considered part of the mutual aid resources available under mutual aid agreements already in <br />place among law enforcement, fire, EMS, hospitals, public works and public health service <br />providers. <br />Attachment A provides the projected list of equipment that will be distributed to your <br />jurisdiction through FFY 2002 funds. This list is an estimate of the equipment that your <br />jurisdiction will receive and is subject to change due to price fluctuation, tax variance, <br />shipping costs, etc. Please review the attached list, and provide an authorizing signature to <br />verify that your jurisdiction will receive the listed equipment. If your jurisdiction wishes to waive <br />the order of some, or all, of the equipment listed, please notify the King County Office of <br />Emergency Management in writing at 7300 Perimeter Road South, Seattle, WA 98108 -3848. <br />KC OEM's point of contact is Mr. Shad Burcham; he can be reached at 206 205 -8106. <br />The decisions on WMD equipment types and distribution were made by a multi disciplinary <br />team comprised of representatives of Seattle, Port of Seattle, Bellevue Fire departments, <br />Seattle and Kent police, King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO), Seattle Public Utilities, Soos <br />Creek Cedar River Water /Sewer Districts, Tukwila Public Works, King County Department of <br />Natural Resources Parks, Tukwila Emergency Management, Seattle -King Public Health, <br />Medic One and the Washington State Hospital Association. Population, geography, potential <br />targets, and hazardous materials response capabilities were included in the decision making <br />process for equipment allocation. <br />ENT'DSEP2320Q4 <br />
