3.Ideas for COPCAB Awards

TAC Team for the TIB effort – voted to approve

Art nomination: Marjorie Bates, 91 years old. Resident of Tukwila most of her life. Keeps a
vacant property clear of weeds and tidy. She also works in the gardens at TCC and Station
53. Picks up trash around the area and also will clear out ditches around town. Consensus
was that she is a wonderful part of the community, but there is no tie-in to the police.

Kathy Hougardy and her blockwatch activities were discussed approved with one abstention.

Art nominated Jerry Thornton for an “honorable mention,” Jerry disagreed.

4.Good of the Order

Jerry – Last week MSNBC interviewed Sgt. Jon Thornton about a runaway steer that escaped
and was running through downtown Auburn. It ended with a wrangler riding on the hood of
a patrol car to rope the steer. Jerry likes the calling 911/Non-Emergency number cards and
asked if they could be made smaller.

Art- there is a void of patrol cars racing with lights on up his street now that TIB is so quiet.

Chief - next month, strategic plan for the agenda.

Jun – is a Tukwila Emergency Communication Team board member. The goal is to have
HAM radios in strategic locations around town. Members would be deployed to these
locations in the case of an emergency. They do a field event in June or July with the Fire
Department.

Meeting adjourned at 7:45pm

Next meeting will be on Thursday, 2/13/14 from 6:30pm-8:00pm. Please contact Chris Partman at
Chris.Partman@tukwilawa.gov or call 206-271-6069 if you’re unable to attend.
