Minutes: City of Tukwila Planning Commission PLANNING COMMISSION (PC) MINUTES April 23, 2015 6:30 PM City Hall Council Chambers Chair, Mike Hansen; Vice Chair, Sharon Mann; Commissioners, Louise Strander, Thomas McLeod, Miguel Maestas, and Nhan Nguyen Commissioner Brooke Alford, Nora Gierloff, Deputy Director; and Wynetta Bivens, Planning Commission Secretary Commissioner McLeod made a motion to adopt the December 11, 2014 minutes. Commissioner Maestas seconded the motion. All were in favor. Chair Hansen called the public hearing to order and swore in those wishing to testify. At 6:35 PM Chair Hansen opened the public hearing. CASE NUMBER: L15 -0017 APPLICANT: City of Tukwila REQUEST: Updates to the Introduction and Vision sections of the Comprehensive Plan LOCATION: Citywide Nora Gierloff, Community Development Deputy Director, gave an overview of the multi -year process for updating the Comprehensive Plan. She talked about the process and listed the elements that are being reviewed this year, some already reviewed, and those upcoming. The goals for updating the 20 year old Introduction and Vision sections, and the focus to make the connection to the strategic plan. She also, discussed some of the new outreach techniques, community liaisons, giving a picture of what the update process has been like, and addressing Tukwila's changing demographics. For example: Staff is suggesting striking the word `citizens' and replace it with `residents' Staff is suggesting the word `crossroads' is replaced with the word `confluences' Comments from the work sessions and other staff recommendations are incorporated in the document.
