City Of Tukwila <br />Police Department <br />An Accredited Agency <br />COPCAB Minutes <br />March 12, 2015 <br />6:30pm- 8:00pm <br />Jim Haggerton, Mayor <br />Michael Villa, Chief of Police <br />Present: Chief Villa, Chris Partman, Laurie Clark, Jerry Thornton, Austin Hackett, John Lindsay, Jun Castillo <br />• Introductions — <br />• John Lindsay has lived in Tukwila for many years a retired teacher from Highline College. He is a <br />graduate of the Citizens' Academy. Has extra time and looking for opportunities to get involved <br />• Austin Hackett is a Staff Sgt. in the USMC Reserves. He is attending UW for a BA and moved to <br />Tukwila a couple years ago. Lives up near Military Rd. <br />• Minutes from 12/11/14, 1/8/15 and 2/12/15 meetings tabled due to lack of quorum. <br />• Chief's Update <br />• Plans to have the PD goals for the group by next meeting. They have not yet gone out to all the <br />department staff yet, but should next week. <br />• One emphasis areas for the Department has been leadership development. In the last year and a half <br />the Sgts. and above have been attending leadership training. The last group is enrolled currently. <br />• The Command Staff has been working on becoming a more cohesive leadership team with retreats and <br />workshops. Next week the Command Staff and all Supervisors will be coming together in a summit to <br />increase this movement and to have the entire team working towards the goals of the strategic plan. <br />• COPCAB Awards /Annual Report to the City Council. <br />• Wording for plaque for Art: In appreciation of 14 years of dedicated service. <br />• Discussion of 2015 Annual Plan <br />• Jerry's intent is to stimulate a more proactive & involved membership in the coming year by- <br />• Meeting our allotted membership category x category <br />• current member referrals <br />• Block Watch & Apartment Managers reps <br />• CERT training & Citizen's Academy as potential as potential membership sources, <br />• membership roster <br />• New member orientation- including participation in Citizens Academy <br />6200 Southcenter Blvd. Tukwila, WA 98188 • Phone (206) 433 -1808 • Records Fax (206) 244 -6181 Invest.
