The current <br />system has been due for replacement for a while. Originally looked at 12 vendors, then got it <br />down to 5 and after presentations, it was down to 2 candidates. The winning proposal was <br />from Spillman, a company which makes products for many local PDs. On 11/17 this will be <br />presented to committee then on to the full Council. This system would allow the department <br />to drastically reduce the amount of paper used. The new system will be able to interface with <br />both SCORE and Valley Communications Dispatch Center. <br />Question about when the in -car computers get updated and checked out? Computers are <br />adequate, but not always taken care of well. <br />COPS Grant for 2 additional officers to interface with the immigrant and diverse populations <br />within Tukwila. We were awarded the grant. It needs to go through Finance and Safety and <br />then the full Council. The grant is worth $250K over 3 years. The officers must be kept on <br />after the 3 year grant expires for at least one additional year. The City will be putting in <br />about $900K over this time period. This is for cars, PD equipment, uniforms, and all the <br />equipment needed for an officer to be effective in the field. <br />TPD is preparing for the holiday season. Pushing out the message about shopper safety and <br />car prowl prevention. Officers also do emphasis patrols; the first one is on black Friday. The <br />day after Christmas is also a day where there is emphasis patrol done. <br />Foster found out today that the SRO is taking another position in the department. Will the <br />school be allowed some say in the replacement?
