LTAC December 16, 2016 Meeting <br />Page 2 <br />Sounders FC Event — Business Relations Manager Brandon Miles provided the Committee with a recap <br />of the Seattle Sounders FC event that was funded with approval by LTAC and the City Council earlier <br />this month. The event entailed a fan sendoff at Starfire Sports on December 7 to wish the team well <br />on their departure to Toronto to compete for the 2016 MLS Cup. Around 200 people attended and <br />there was robust engagement on social media as well as coverage by local press. Lodging tax paid for <br />shuttle service, police overtime, and operational costs at Starfire. Although Seattle hosted the official <br />victory parade, a fan appreciation weekend is being planned in Tukwila. The cost of PD overtime for <br />the December 7 event will be shared with the Committee. The Committee also asked for additional <br />information on the possibility of installing signs or flags around the City to celebrate the Sounders <br />victory. <br />Day Marketing Update — Bill Baker of Total Destination Marketing will be in Tukwila in early January to <br />conduct the stakeholder interviews. LTAC members have been invited to participate in interviews with <br />Mr. Baker. <br />Tentative Meeting Dates for 2017 — Business Relations Manager Brandon Miles asked the attendees if <br />holding meetings on the Yd Friday of each month will continue to work in 2017. Those that were <br />present said yes, and the absent members will be surveyed. <br />Roundtable — Owen Leinbach suggested a future agenda item to evaluate the budget feasibility of a <br />"hospitality ambassador" program in Tukwila similar to the one in downtown Seattle organized by the <br />Metropolitan Improvement District. Brandon Miles thanked Council President Duffie for his leadership <br />in 2016.
