City of Tukwila <br />Planning Commission <br />PLANNING COMMISSION (PC) MINUTES <br />Date: August 24, 2017 <br />Time: 6:30 PM <br />Location: Council Chambers <br />Present: Vice Chair, Nhan Nguyen; Commissioners, Sharon Mann, Mike Hansen, Louise Strander, <br />Brooke Alford, and Dennis Martinez <br />Absent: Chair, Miguel Maestas <br />Staff: Nora Gierloff, Deputy Director; Robin Tischmak, City Engineer, Lynn Miranda, Senior <br />Planner, Moira Bradshaw, Senior Planner, Max Baker, Assistant Planner and Jaclyn <br />Adams, Acting Planning Commission Secretary, <br />PLANNING COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING <br />CASE NUMBER: L17-0046, 2016 Comprehensive Plan Element Update <br />APPLICANT: City of Tukwila <br />REQUEST: Repeal TMC Chapter 18.52, Landscaping Code and adopt a new TMC 18.52, <br />landscaping regulation chapter to implement Comprehensive Plan policies <br />LOCATION: City-wide, non -project action <br />Vice Chair Nguyen called the meeting to order at 6:30. <br />Commissioner Alford moved to accept minutes as presented, the motion was seconded and carried. <br />Vice Chair Nguyen opened the public hearing and swore in those individuals testifying. <br />Nora Geirloff, Deputy Director, Department of Community Development gave the presentation on the <br />proposed Comprehensive Plan Transportation Element Update, L17-0046. The City is assigned growth <br />figures and then runs a traffic model and puts needed improvements into a capital facilities plan. <br />Outside certification agency PSRC requested this update for consistency and to have the same horizon <br />year as other elements. Full certification of this element will allow the city to be eligible for additional <br />funding in the future. <br />Robin Tischmak, City Engineer addressed questions regarding the process and Public Work's role in the <br />Transportation Element. <br />Extensive discussion items: <br />Expected house hold growth and consideration of Tukwila International Blvd. Concerns over whether <br />the traffic modeling was based off current or updated data. <br />Discussion regarding the traffic modeling and lightrail area. <br />1 <br />
