The next step will be drafting attributes to score programs with <br />goals, staff proposes to take the strategic plan back to the community to make sure it still reflects <br />current priorities. Staff developed an outreach plan that includes a community workshop, a <br />video, a multi-lingual survey, staff presentations, a road show to community groups, print and <br />web promotion, and business outreach. Staff is seeking Committee feedback on the proposal as <br />well as how best to involve the City Council in the process. Councilmember Robertson requested <br />to review the early draft of the program allocations. Councilmember Kruller asked how the <br />outreach approach differs from past budgets, and staff replied that the road show will be <br />expanded, materials will be provided in more languages, and the message will be simple and <br />understandable. Chair Quinn stressed the importance of explaining what cities are required to <br />fund, and that he would like to see creative approaches to meet people where they are. He also <br />requested that Council President Seal be given the opportunity to weigh in on her role during the <br />outreach process. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL. FORWARD TO FEBRUARY 26, 2018 COMMITTEE OF <br />THE WHOLE. <br /> <br />Financial Definitions <br />B. <br /> <br />Staff presented a list of common financial terms and definitions along with the 2017-2018 Budget <br />Glossary in response to the January 17, 2018 Committee request. The Committee was asked for <br />other terms they would like to see included and the following were requested: Original Budget <br />(to show difference between Annual or Amended Budget), Within Budget, One-Time <br />Expenditures, Bow Wave, and a chart describing the different types of Funds.
