2018 Grant Funding Available for Riparian Revegetation <br />Projects <br />The WRIA 9 Forum is eager to assist cities, schools, businesses and non-governmental <br />organizations in funding projects that help improve conditions for salmon and water quality in <br />the Green/Duwamish and Central Puget Sound watershed. Information about other projects and <br />programs underway or planned in the watershed can be found in the WRIA 9 Salmon Habitat <br />Plan. This information will serve as a guide as you develop your proposal, may give you ideas <br />that improve your proposal, and may help suggest opportunities for cooperation. <br />Small Grant Fund for Salmon Habitat and Restoration Projects <br />$250,000 total funding is available for this grant round, with no minimum grant award and a <br />maximum award of $50,000. Riparian revegetation projects must show a direct benefit to salmon <br />habitat. Projects may he for riparian revegetation or a combination of environmental education <br />with an on -the -ground native planting. The following types of projects are encouraged: <br />• Stream or shoreline restoration project planning and site development <br />• Maintenance of restoration sites, including weed control <br />• Removal of invasive weeds and revegetation using native plants along the <br />Green/Duwamish River and tributary stream <br />• Livestock management, such as fencing <br />Grant Applications are due by 5 pm on April 24, 2018. if you have questions, please contact <br />Karen Bergeron at karen.berL,,eron<a)kinacountv.gov or by telephone at 206.477.4641. <br />Criteria for applications: <br />The following criteria will be used to guide the decision about whether to fund your proposal: <br />• Project technical merit (50 pts; 41 pt minimum required): <br />• Your proposal will increase riparian shade within priority salmon habitat areas (0- <br />50 points). Here is a map of priority areas. <br />• Certainty of Success (30 pts; 25 pt minimum required): <br />• Your proposal is important to do now (0-15 points); and <br />• You demonstrate you are capable of implementing the proposal (0-15 points). <br />• Community Support (20 pts; .17 pt minimum required): <br />• Your proposal improves community participation and support for salmon habitat <br />protection and restoration (0-20 points); <br />• Your proposal has matching funds. Matching funds are not required; however, <br />applications will receive additional points for providing a sponsor match (up to 5 <br />bonus points). <br />Grant Policies <br />Requests should be consistent with the following policies: <br />39 <br />
