Program Descriptions <br />Public Defense Program: Oversight of the Public Defense Program, processing invoices, reports, <br />complaints. Prepares annual program report. Applies for grant funds to support the program. Oversight <br />of Office of Public Defense Grant funds. Prepares reports as required. <br />Attorney Services: Contracted City Attorney services. <br />Prosecution Services: Contracted Prosecuting Attorney services. <br />Digital Records Center: Growth and development of system, microfilming and digitization, importing new <br />record series, GET -IT, policies, training, new initiatives, maintenance costs. <br />Special Matters Services: Legal representation for matters not covered under Attorney Services. <br />Public Records Requests: Administration of City-wide process, handling all aspects of requests, database <br />updates, JLARC reporting, risk mitigation. <br />Required Citywide Functions: Postage accounts, postage meter lease, recorded documents, plant care, <br />participate on City committees & initiatives, administration. <br />Strategic Planning and Policy Implementation: Provide strategic direction, set goals, and evaluate policy <br />choices to best serve the city; establish priorities, create workplans, monitor progress, evaluate and <br />assess next steps. <br />Community Representation: Participation in a variety of community groups for the purposes of providing <br />leadership; offering the city perspective; strengthening community ties; and fostering good relationships <br />with Tukwila School District, Rotary, Chamber of Commerce. <br />Council Agenda/Meeting Functions: Administration, agenda production, agenda review and long-term <br />planning, meeting facilitation, minutes, legislative history. <br />Records Management: Central files, contracts, records center, retention & destruction, archival transfers, <br />staff training, risk mitigation & compliance, policy development, databases, security costs, program <br />administration. <br />Intergovernmental Relations: Participation in a variety of organizations for the purposes of maintaining <br />good relations and open communication with other organizations providing leadership and perspective <br />on shared concerns and issues. Liaise with other governmental entities. Publicly support and recommend <br />legislation that is deemed beneficial to the community. <br />Regional: Sound Cities Association, King County City Managers/Administrators, Highline <br />Forum <br />State: Association of Washington Cities <br />Federal: National League of Cities, International City/County Management Association, US <br />Conference of Mayors <br />Legislative Affairs Oversight: Monitors contracts with federal and state lobbyists that assist the City in <br />lobbying for legislative matters relevant to the City. <br />59 <br />
