DISTRICT <br />INTER -LOCAL AGREEMENT SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM <br />between <br />CITY OF TUKWILA POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />and <br />TUKWILA SCHOOL DISTRICT #406 <br />I. PURPOSE: <br />It is the intention of the City of Tukwila Police Department ("Tukwila PD") and the Tukwila <br />School District ("the District") to maintain collaborative efforts in providing a safe and healthy <br />school environment for students, staff, faculty, and visitors. We do hereby agree that it is <br />valuable and beneficial for our community to have School Resource Officers ("SROs") from <br />the Tukwila PD assigned to schools within the District through a partnered School Resource <br />Officer Program ("SRO Program"). We recognize through positive relationships with <br />students and collaboration with educators and other school partners, SROs can proactively <br />address school safety issues and divert at -risk students from the juvenile justice system. <br />The purpose of this Inter -Local Agreement ("ILA") is to establish a clear understanding of <br />roles, duties, and responsibilities of all involved parties. This ILA is being set forth on the 1St <br />day of September, 2017, with full recognition that the document must be a living document <br />to allow for program evolution and provide for some variances, needs, and future changes, <br />provided such changes are agreed upon in writing by the Parties. <br />II. MISSION: <br />It is the mission of the SRO Program to provide the highest quality professional police <br />service to the District and community by promoting school safety and improving the <br />educational environment. <br />It is the mission of the individual SRO to keep students and staff safewhile simultaneously <br />upholding the law and supporting the educational mission of the District and its individual <br />schools. <br />is* 0 O rte` `rn L5 <br />Page 1 of 7 <br />
