12. Serve the school and community as a source of information regarding City <br />and Police functions <br />13. Provide officer -in -classroom programs when requested and as Tukwila <br />PD staffing allows. This might include educational presentations to staff <br />and students regarding the criminal justice system, criminal activity, and <br />substance abuse education. <br />14. Assist school staff in establishing policies that will contribute to the safety <br />of school staff and students <br />15. Participate in student counseling and parent conferences, when <br />appropriate <br />16. Provide testimony and technical assistance to the District at expulsion <br />hearings, or other proceedings when appropriate <br />17. Coordinate and supervise security measures at school activities in <br />conjunction with a designated school administrator, including sports <br />events, dances, plays, etc. <br />18. Work with the school administration in identifying gang activity or potential <br />gang activities as related to school safety <br />19. Attend youth gang task force meetings, as time allows <br />20. Attend periodic meetings of SROs and related organizations <br />21. Be a positive role model for youths through positive interaction and <br />projection of a professional image <br />22. Provide training for campus supervisors on maintaining a safe and secure <br />environment <br />23. Operate with the understanding that school code of conduct violations and <br />routine discipline of students remains the responsibility of school <br />administrators <br />During summer and school breaks the SRO should: <br />1. Work with school staff to prepare for the next school year <br />2. Attend job related training <br />3. Supplement the Patrol and Community Police Team (CPT) function <br />Any activities outside of the above functions shall be approved by the Division Commander. <br />V. BILLING <br />1. The City of Tukwila Police Department will be responsible for compensation of the <br />SRO. <br />VI. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />1.
