TUKWILA ARTS COMMISSION MINUTES <br />Retreat - November 16, 2019 <br />9:00 a.m. Tukwila Community Center/Executive Conference Room <br />1. Call to Order, Roll Call & Introduction of Guests: Chair Cynthia Chesak called the meeting to order at 9:01 <br />am. <br />Attendance: <br />Commission Members Present: Cynthia Chesak, Pinky Estell, Sheila Coppola, Trisha Gilmore, Helen <br />Enguerra, Jaleh Sadravi, Shawn Belyea, Dylan Mahler <br />Staff: Tracy Gallaway, TAC Liaison <br />Guests: Artists in Residence, Sarah Kavage & Olisa Enrico -Johnson (via phone) <br />2. Approval of Agenda: Helen Enguerra moved to accept the agenda. Pinky Estell seconded the motion. The <br />motion passed unanimously. <br />3. Approval of Minutes: Pinky Estell moved to accept the minutes for 10.23.19 Trisha Gilmore seconded the <br />motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />4. Unfinished Business: <br />a. Artist in Residence Program - Sarah Kavage and Olisa Enrico -Johnson (via phone) — discussed activities <br />since their mid-term report. There final report will be presented to the City Council in March 2020. <br />b. 2020 Workplan <br />a. Ongoing projects <br />i. Rotating Art Display at Tukwila Community Center —Trisha and Jaleh are working on revised <br />protocols for this program. Pinky and Tracy are working on putting together a recommendation <br />for improved lighting for the display walls. <br />ii. Public Art Inventory — This project is on hold until there is capacity (commissioner and staff) to <br />work on. There is potential for developing this as an internship project. <br />iii. Southcenter District Art Project — Artist Beth Gahan continues to work on this project, but there <br />are some City related issues regarding painting on streets and sidewalks that we are working <br />through. The arts commission can expect an update in spring 2020. <br />iv. Utility Box Art Project — Artist Beth Gahan is developing this project. The arts commission can <br />expect an update in spring 2020. <br />v. Rainier Symphony —The symphony season is underway.
