c. Promoting Art in the Community -The arts commission discussed some ideas for how they could <br />support art in the community. These include creating: <br />i. Opportunities for Artists <br />1. Professional Development <br />2. Open Calls <br />a. Teaching artists for programs and events <br />b. Project based mini grants <br />ii. Opportunities for Admirers & Enthusiastic Supporters — continuing the monthly arts newsletter <br />so that they are aware of the opportunities to participate in art activities, or support community <br />artists. <br />iii. Partnership Opportunities <br />1. Ignition NW (Burning Man) — exploring the opportunity to work together for installations, <br />teaching artists and events; Commissioner Pinky Estell will be the lead on this partnership. <br />2. Tukwila School District — the arts commission is interested determining how they could best <br />support programming in the schools. There was discussion about inviting TSD art teachers <br />to a meeting in spring 2020. <br />3. KCLS Tukwila Library — continuing to partner with KCLS for programs and events. <br />iv. Free Workshop Series: <br />1. Arts Commissioner Workshop Series — Commissioners discussed each presenting a free arts <br />workshop. Here is the list of potential workshops (specific details will be determined at <br />January meeting): <br />• Sheila Coppola — Linocut Workshop <br />• Jaleh Sadravi — Family Friendly Art Workshop <br />• Cynthia Chesak — Improv Workshop <br />• Helen Enguerra — Samoan Dance Workshop <br />• Pinky Estell —Technical Theater Workshop <br />• Trisha Gilmore —Artist Professional Development Workshop <br />2. Other free workshops (that were successful in 2019) and the arts commission is interested <br />in bringing back in 2020 include Arabesque Watercolor, African Dance and Arts for All <br />Drawing. <br />5. Commission/Staff Report Outs: <br />o Tracy Gallaway, Staff Liaison —SAVE the DATE —Friday, December 61" from 6:00-8:OOpm we will be <br />celebrating the first year of Tukwila's Artist in Residency program. See attached flier. Feel free to <br />share with your network of friends and artists... everyone is welcome! <br />6. Agenda for Next/Future Meeting: 2020 Workshop ideas —details and dates <br />Adjournment: Sheila Coppola motioned to adjourn the meeting at 12:47pm. Helen Enguerra seconded the <br />motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Next meeting: January 22, 2020 at Tukwila Community Center <br />2 <br />
