Ho a Pa nekanti, to ter o £»rector <br />INFORMATIONAL MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Transportation and Infrastructure Committee <br />FROM: Had Ponnekanti, Interim Public Works Director <br />BY: Adib Altallal, Project Manager <br />CC: Mayor Ekberg <br />DATE: September 18, 2020 <br />SUBJECT: CBD Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation - 2020 <br />Project No. 91140203 <br />Bid Award <br />ISSUE <br />Award the contract to Michels Corporation for the 2020 Central Business District (CBD) Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The 2020 CBD Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project will address deterioration of the approximately 50-year old sanitary <br />sewer pipes by relining the pipes with little impact to roadways and no excavation. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Three bids were received on August 27, 2020 for the 2020 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project. The bids were reviewed and <br />tabulated (see attached sheet) and no errors were found. Michels Corporation submitted the apparent low bid of $709,907.00 <br />and the Engineer's estimate was $848,177.00. The contingency amount of $141,981.40 is the allowable expense that the Mayor will be able to approve for any <br />change orders to the construction contracts.
