17-116 <br />Council Approval 2/21/17 <br />2018 Regional Animal Services <br />Interlocal Agreement <br />This AGREEMENT is made and entered into effective as of this 1st day of January, <br />2018, by and between KING COUNTY, a Washington municipal corporation and legal <br />subdivision of the State of Washington (the "County") and the City of Tukwila, a <br />Washington municipal corporation (the "City"). <br />WHEREAS, the provision of animal control, sheltering and licensing services <br />protects public health and safety and promotes animal welfare; and <br />WHEREAS, providing such services on a regional basis allows for enhanced <br />coordination and tracking of regional public and animal health issues, consistency of <br />regulatory approach across jurisdictional boundaries, economies of scale, and ease of <br />access for the public; and <br />WHEREAS, the Contracting Cities are partners in making regional animal services <br />work effectively, and are customers of the Animal Services Program provided by the <br />County; and <br />WHEREAS, the City and the County are parties to an Animal Services Interlocal <br />Agreement for 2013 through 2015 which, as extended, will terminate on December 31, 2017 <br />(the "2013 Agreement"); and <br />WHEREAS, nothing in this Agreement is intended to alter the provision of service <br />or manner and timing of compensation and reconciliation specified in the 2013 Agreement <br />for services provided through December 31, 2017; and <br />WHEREAS, the City pursuant to the Interlocal Cooperation Act (RCW Chapter <br />39.34) , is authorized and desires to contract with the County for the performance of <br />Animal Services; and <br />WHEREAS, the County is authorized by the Interlocal Cooperation Act, Section 120 <br />of the King County Charter and King County Code 11.02.030 to render such services and is <br />willing to render such services on the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth; and <br />NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the promises, covenants and agreements <br />contained in this Agreement, the parties agree as follows: <br />p ri i n e..S <br />Document Dated 6-28-17 . 0? <br />
