Multiple buildings should be served by many small racks in convenient locations rather than a <br />combined, distant rack area. <br />2. Short Term Parking <br />a. Bicycle racks should be easy to find and located no more than 50 feet from the entrance of <br />destinations. If bicycle parking is not easily visible from the street a sign must be posed <br />indicating its location. <br />b. Racks should be located within sight of gathering places or in busy pedestrian areas that <br />provide constant, informal surveillance of bikes and accessories. <br />c. Building overhangs, canopies or other features should be used to provide weather protection. <br />3. Parking at the Workplace <br />a. Secure bicycle storage areas should be used to park bikes for a full working day. <br />b. Bike storage areas should be located in high visibility areas close to elevators, stairs and <br />entrances. <br />c. Bicycle parking should always be protected from the elements either indoors, covered by <br />building elements, or in a separate shelter. <br />d.
