City of Tukwila <br />Planning Commission <br />Planning Commission (PC) and <br />Board of Architectural Review (BAR) Minutes <br />Date: June 23, 2011 <br />Time: 6:30 PM <br />Location: City Hall Council Chambers <br />Present: Brooke Alford, Vice Chair, Commissioners, Louise Strander, David Shumate, Mike Hansen, <br />and Aaron Hundtofte <br />Absent: Margaret Bratcher, Chair, Commissioner, Thomas McLeod, <br />Staff: Nora Gierloff, Deputy DCD Director, Brandon Miles, Senior Planner, Rebecca Fox, Senior <br />Planner, and Wynetta Bivens, Planning Commission Secretaiy <br />Vice -Chair Alford opened the public hearing at 6:40 PM. <br />Commissioner Strander made a motion to amend the April 28, 2011 minutes. The minutes stated that <br />Commissioner Strander recused herself from all ftiture review of the Tukwila Manufacturing Industrial <br />Center. Commissioner Strander requested that the minutes be amended to state that she was recusing herself <br />from participating in the Issues and Opportunities Report, regarding the Tukwila Manufacturing Industrial <br />Center. Commissioner Hansen seconded the motion to amend the minutes. <br />Minutes: Commissioner Hansen made a motion to adopt the April 28, 2011 minutes as amended. <br />Commissioner Shumate seconded the motion. The motion unanimously approved. <br />Vice -Chair Alford swore in those wishing to provide testimony. <br />CASE NUMBER: S11 -034 <br />APPLICANT: Mon Wig, Wig Properties <br />REQUEST: Approval of Master Sign Program to allow for flexibility under the City's <br />Sign Code <br />LOCATION: 17100 -17250 Southcenter Parkway <br />Brandon Miles, Senior Planner, Department of Community Development asked the Commissioners <br />the Appearance of Fairness questions. <br />Brandon Miles, Senior Planner, Department of Community Development gave the staff report <br />presentation. He gave an overview of the Master Sign Program, which was adopted in August 2010. <br />He stated that a citizen outreach program and citizen advisory committee was used during the process. <br />The Master Sign Program is voluntary, and the applicant volunteered to go through the Master Sign <br />Program. An overview was also given on the criteria for the program and explanation on how the <br />applicant meets the criteria. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommended approval of the project with four conditions as listed in the June 8, 2011 staff report. <br />Page n of 3 <br />
