address performance issues and deny the combining of <br />breaks at the discretion of the Chief or his/her designee. <br />While on either meal break or rest, such sergeants may be <br />subject to call for service. <br />All Sergeants, other than Patrol Sergeants, will be allowed a <br />30-minute meal break and two fifteen -minute breaks. Breaks <br />may be combined; however, the City retains its management <br />rights to address performance issues and deny the combining <br />of breaks at the discretion of the Chief or his/her designee. <br />While on either meal break or rest such sergeants may be <br />subject to call for service. <br />B. Staffing <br />The following policy will be adhered to except when unusual <br />occurrences create increased staffing needs (e.g. civil disorder, <br />national disaster, holiday, significant event, etc.) <br />1. Staffing levels <br />The Chief agrees to discuss any staff configuration changes with the <br />Association prior to making any long-term adjustments in staffing <br />levels. The Association recognizes the ultimate right of the Chief to <br />adjust staff levels within the department. <br />2. Staffing Administration <br />Current on duty staffing levels for patrol on each shift is one (1) <br />supervisor and six (6) officers up to two (2) hours prior to the shift, <br />with the following exceptions: <br />a. During the two (2) vacation bids that occur in conjunction with <br />the shift bids twice a year, the City will allow vacation requests <br />7 <br />181 <br />
