7. The employee and the Association must be given <br />written notice of the shift adjustment seven (7) calendar days <br />before the adjustment for training is to occur. The City and <br />the Association may agree in writing to waive the seven (7) <br />calendar days' notice requirement and/or the requirement that <br />the days off be taken consecutive. <br />B. Training for Patrol Sergeants Working Night Shift Schedule <br />This section only applies to Sergeants working the 12-hour night shift <br />schedule. It applies to scheduled training of four (4) hours or more <br />during hours outside the employee's regularly assigned shift. The <br />schedule does not apply to court time. <br />As used herein, an 8-hour rest period is defined as, 8-hours prior to <br />the start or 8-hours from the end time of the training. It does not <br />always equal 8-hours of paid time off. <br />1. Training on First Work Day <br />Training will be paid at time -and -one-half. There will be an 8- <br />hour rest period (admin time) prior to the start of training and <br />an 8-hour rest period (admin time) following the end of the <br />training. The patrol Sergeant will be paid, at the regular <br />straight time rate for all hours he/she was scheduled on the <br />graveyard/night shift but did not work because of the rest <br />period and the officer will report to work the remainder of the <br />shift following the rest period. The patrol Sergeant will not <br />have his/her shift extended as a result of this paragraph. <br />2. Training Mid -Week <br />Training will be paid at straight time.
