as to its official representative(s). <br />ARTICLE 2 - ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP AND DUES DEDUCTION <br />SECTION 2.1 Dues Deduction. Upon receipt of written authorization <br />individually signed by a bargaining unit member, the City shall deduct from <br />the pay of such member, the amount of dues as certified by a Sergeant of the <br />signatory organization and transmit the amount to the Association in a timely <br />manner. The Association agrees to indemnify and hold the Employer <br />harmless against any and all claims, suits, orders or judgments brought or <br />issued against the Employer as a result of any action taken or not taken by <br />the Employer under the provisions of this Article, unless caused by the <br />negligence of the Employer. <br />ARTICLE 3 - WORKING OUT OF CLASSIFICATION <br />SECTION 3.1 Commander/Deputy Chief If a Sergeant is assigned by <br />proper authority to work out -of -class as a Commander or Deputy Chief for a <br />period in excess of one day, he/she shall be paid a premium of seven percent <br />(7%) of the Sergeant's base wage per hour for the entire period of assignment. <br />Additionally, an employee eligible for premium pay pursuant to Article 6 of this <br />Agreement at the time he/she is required to work out of class as a Commander <br />or Deputy Chief shall continue to be paid such premium pay during the entire <br />period of the assignment. If an acting appointment is to extend beyond 30 <br />calendar cays, the Chief will request a provisional appointment from the Civil <br />Service Commission. <br />ARTICLE 4 - HOURS OF WORK <br />SECTION 4.1 GENERALLY. This Article is intended to define the normal <br />hours of work, to provide the basis for calculation of overtime, and to set <br />forth the policy on compensatory time.
