PC Meeting <br />2/25/21 <br />Page 3 <br />Commissioner Martinez asked what will prevent visitors from parking in the fire access lane? He also <br />expressed concern with the lack of natural gas on the development. He said it should be the homeowner's choice <br />and it needs to be added as part of the conversation. <br />Commissioner Simmons said she appreciates and loves the design; she inquired whether the safe walk path <br />would be lit at night; inquired whether there is a place where delivery vehicles can park and stated there will be <br />delivery vehicles accessing the development. <br />Commissioner Stark said she agreed with the other Commissioner's comments; she said if the signage size is <br />increased more lighting needs to be added; she said there is no coverage within the recreation space for bad <br />weather; questioned whether there are enough parking stalls for delivery or emergency vehicles; inquired on lack <br />of storage, etc., and suggested more thought on the issue; she also expressed concern with solar panels and <br />potential lack of electricity and heat. <br />Commissioner Reay stated how important this project is to build equity and for creating generational wealth <br />within the community and how important homeownership is to that purpose. She inquired on the partnership and <br />collaboration with the Tukwila Pantry and Church and asked whether there is an agreement, etc.; she also asked <br />for confirmation there are ADA parking stalls. <br />Karen Kiest, Landscape Architect for the applicant, also addressed questions. <br />Eric Pravitz, Director, of Real Estate Delvelopment for Homestead Community Land Trust, thanked the <br />Commission for their time and addressed Commissioner Martinez's comments regarding natural gas and <br />explained the energy efficiency and quality of the homes being developed. <br />Commissioner Stark and Martinez had follow up questions regarding backup power to homes. <br />Commissioner Strander asked who is responsible for the maintenance of the safe route to school pathway. She <br />asked staff to provide some clarity regarding maintenance. She asked if the police department looked at this <br />project through the crime prevention environmental design. She is questioned whether the proposed trees would <br />block the view on the pathway and said she would like to have that looked at again through the crime prevention <br />environmental design.
