INFORMATIONAL MEMO <br />Page 3 <br />Public Works: <br />Allocation <br />Total 2022 <br />Allocation <br />First Half 2022 <br />Expenditures <br />Funds Remaining <br />for Q3 & Q4 <br />Community Benefits Summary <br />Residential Street <br />Maintenance <br />(Fund 103) <br />$335,000 <br />$104,648.36 <br />$230,351.64 <br />*List of Work Locations: <br />-Homeless Encampment cleanup TIB West Valley Hwy, SC Blvd, East Marginal Way. <br />-Vegetation control for site distance at intersections and clearing vegetation around traffic signs. <br />-SCF Requests Pothole repair, vegetation clearing, litter control and illegal dumping clean up. <br />-Repairing our 20 irrigation systems and trimming vegetation on our over 4 acres of streetscape. <br />-Completed MUTCD required annual maintenance to include street striping, thermoplastic stop <br />bars and turn arrows, and the installation of the raised pavement markers (buttons). <br />*Benefits of Maintenance: <br />-Public safety. <br />-MUTCD required maintnance completed. <br />-Beautification to provide an inviting environment for visitors to the city. <br />*Challenges: <br />-Loss of manpower and budget. <br />-Inability to maintain an adequate level of service. <br />-Increased schedule of cleaning bus stops to maintain a sanitary environment. <br />-Marked increase in homeless encampments, litter and illegal dumping. <br />Allocation <br />Total 2022 <br />Allocation <br />First Half 2022 <br />Expenditures <br />Funds Remaining <br />for Q3 & Q4 <br />Community Benefits Summary <br />Traffic Calming <br />$400,000 <br />$61,490.82 <br />$338,509.18 <br />*Community Requests: <br />-Allentown neighborhood improved safety and livability that includes addressing the high volume <br />of heavy trucks, associated with the BNSF Intermodal Yard, with residential life. <br />-Tukwila Community Center area work for improved walking conditions. <br />-Tukwila Elementary School and Cascade View Elementary School work to improve walkability <br />and pedestrian safety for students and neighbor walking to/from school. <br />*Work Done: <br />-Allentown Speed and Safety Study (not fully complete) including data collection, public outreach <br />and document production. <br />-RRFB design at 2 locations in Allentown, 5 124th Street at 44th Avenue S and 46th Avenue S, near <br />the Tukwila Community Center. <br />-Preliminary data collection and analysis around for future pedestrian safety improvements. <br />*Benefits: <br />-Residents, businesses and visitors benefit from all traffic calming treatments with safer driving, <br />walking and biking conditions. <br />-Around the Tukwila Community Center, pedestrians will have higher visibility to cross 5 124th <br />Avenue to access the residential area, improving their safety and reducing vehicle speeds of cars <br />and heavy trucks at the future RRFB locations. <br />39 <br />
