Draft Chapter 18.28 Tukwila Urban Center (TUC) District <br />"speed tables" may also be used to minimize curb cuts and ramps (speed tables maintain the level <br />of the adjacent sidewalk at identified pedestrian crossings, reversing the situation where a <br />pedestrian must enter the zone of moving vehicles to cross the street). These pedestrian features <br />shall be designed to accommodate fire lanes and emergency vehicle access routes. <br />6. The pedestrian marking style used shall be consistent throughout the development. <br />B. Lighting <br />Safetv <br />a. Pedestrian oriented areas, including building entrances, walkways and paths, plazas, parking <br />lots, and parking structures shall be illuminated to increase safety and provide clear views both <br />to and within the site. <br />b. Where appropriate exterior lighting practices must follow the recommendations of the <br />Illuminating Engineering Societv of North America (IES). <br />b. New lighting fixtures shall be "dark skv" compliant. i.e. emitted light should be directed <br />downward from the horizontal plane of the light source to preserve a dark skv and prevent <br />unnecessary light pollution. Exceptions may be made for unlit trees and plants and exterior <br />architectural lighting operated on timers to shut off after midnight nightly. <br />c. Where feasible new fixtures shall use a reflector and /or a refractor system for efficient <br />s s <br />d. The maximum mounting height for building- mounted lights is 20 feet above finished grade in <br />Workplace and Corridor Commercial Districts and 14 feet above finished grade at all other <br />Districts. <br />b.
