h. Contracting Cities may contract with King County for "Enhanced Control <br />Services" through separate agreement (as set forth in Exhibit E); provided <br />that a City may not purchase Enhanced Control Services under Option 1 as <br />described in Exhibit E if such City is receiving a Transition Funding Credit, <br />Shelter Credit, or licensing revenue support the cost of which is not <br />reimbursed to the County. <br />Part II: Shelter Services <br />Shelter services include the general care, cleaning and nourishment of owner -released, lost <br />or stray dogs, cats and other animals. Such services shall be provided 7 -days per week, 365 <br />days per year at the County's animal shelter in Kent (the "Shelter") or other shelter <br />locations utilized by the County, including related services described in this section. The <br />County's Eastside Pet Adoption Center in the Crossroads area of Bellevue will be closed to <br />the public. <br />During 2013-2015, major maintenance of the Shelter will continue to be included in the <br />Program costs allocated under this Agreement (as part of the central County overhead <br />charges allocated to the Program), but no major renovation, upgrades or replacements of <br />the Shelter established as a capital project within the County Budget are anticipated nor <br />will any such capital project costs be allocated to the Contracting Cities in Service Years <br />2013-2015. <br />1. Shelter Services <br />a. Services provided to animals will include enrichment, exercise, care and <br />feeding, and reasonable medical attention. <br />b. The Public Service Counter at the Shelter will be open to the public not less <br />than 30 hours per week and not less than 5 days per week, excluding <br />holidays and County designated furlough days, for purposes of pet <br />redemption, adoption, license sales services and (as may be offered from <br />time to time) pet surrenders. The Public Service Counter at the shelter may <br />be open for additional hours if practicable within available resources. <br />c. The County will maintain a volunteer/foster care function at the Shelter to <br />encourage use of volunteers working at the shelter and use of foster <br />families to provide fostering/transitional care between shelter and <br />permanent homes for adoptable animals. <br />d. The County will maintain an animal placement function at the Shelter to <br />provide for and manage adoption events and other activities leading to the <br />placement of animals in appropriate homes. <br />e. Veterinary services will be provided and will include animal exams, <br />treatment and minor procedures, spay/neuter and other surgeries. Limited <br />Document Dated 5-29-12 <br />21 <br />
